Summary
The aim of the project is to develop the optimal repair allocation policy for systems consisting of highly reliable components, and the optimal policy to the corresponding routing and scheduling problems. The model has application in manufacturing, where the customers might be machines and the serves might be an automatic guided vehicle or a tool change operator. In computer applications, customers might be users, and the server might be shared computer or file server. The customers could be processors contending for shared memory or shared bus in a parallel-processing context. In communications, a local area network or bus might share several users.
