Summary

The main goal of this project is the development of an integrated motorway network control system and its evaluation via microscopic simulation. This system will integrate in real time two basic measures for motorway network control: coordinated ramp metering and route guidance. For each one of theses measures powerful methods have been developed in the past by the Dynamic Systems and Simulation Laboratory. These methods have been tested using macroscopic simulation and have been already applied in the field. The development of the integrated system will be based on extensions of these methods. Its evaluation will be conducted using microscopic simulation of the motorway network
