Abstract

This paper describes the implementation of Urban Integrated Traffic Control in Glasgow, Scotland. Ramp Metering, Urban Traffic Control, and Route Advice using Variable Message Signing are linked using the sophisticated facilities now available within the Scottish National Network Control Centre. A control strategy has been developed and is being evaluated which seeks to minimise delay in a mixed urban motorway and surface street network.
