Abstract

In this paper a way for Short Term Traffic Forecasting based on the macroscopic simulation tool METANET is presented. This approach on forecasting is based on the traffic modelling theories, and a macroscopic traffic flow model that involves the quantities for which the forecast is required is used. Two examples are included in this paper, the Amsterdam ring road and the Padua-Venice motorway.
